Wolf Whistle

Wondrous Item, uncommon

When you blow this silver whistle, you summon a fey spirit that takes the form of a dire wolf (Basic Rules, pg. 123).

The summoned dire wolf is friendly to you and your companions. It understands your languages and obeys your spoken commands, taking its action after your turn. If you issue no commands, the creature defends itself but takes no other actions.

The wolf disappears after three hours or when it drops to 0 hit points. Once the whistle has been used, it can’t be used again until the next dawn.

Wolves are apex predators in real life and make excellent animal companions in your Dungeons & Dragons game. While druids and rangers have spells that can summon beasts and animals like wolves, this magic item lets characters of any class call a dire wolf to help detect enemies, deliver an extra attack, or just serve as a meat shield.

Wolves are fascinating creatures. They live in packs, hunt together, and even communicate through body language. In addition, they are highly intelligent animals that are known to play, wrestle, and even teach their young.

There are over 100 species of wolf around the world. The gray wolf is the largest member of the family Canidae, and has a wide range across North America.

Wolves are often misunderstood because of their reputation as aggressive predators. However, they are also incredibly social animals who live in close proximity to humans.
