This new magic weapon for Dungeons & Dragons is a whip made of electricity. It deals lightning damage and can knock enemies prone with thunder.
Whip of Lightning
Weapon (whip), rare
When activated, a long whip of electricity extends from the metal handle. This whip deals 1d8 lightning damage instead of the usual 1d4 slashing damage.
You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic whip. Additionally, when making an attack with this whip, you get a +2 bonus to the attack roll if the target is wearing metal armor.
Thunderclap. On a hit, you may use your bonus action to release a wave of thunderous energy. Each medium or smaller creature in a 5 foot radius of the target must make a DC 10 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 2d6 thunder damage and is knocked prone. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage and isn’t knocked prone.
Proficiency with a whip allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
Dozens of kobolds scrambled across the cavern towards the adventurers, yipping and shouting. Henrik raised his shield and planted his feet as the pack surrounded them.
“Tempest protect us,” the storm cleric uttered.
Nearby, Rayne raised a brass handle into the air and uttered a command word in ancient Eldaryn. “Chizar’reth”.
A long whip of crackling electricity extended from the handle. Rayne cracked the whip at the largest kobold in the pack.
The whip of lightning struck the kobold. The creature let out a yelp of pain as it was electrocuted, and a crash of thunder threw several more kobolds to the ground.
Rayne snapped back the whip, still sizzling with power. She looked back at Henrik with a grin.
“Who needs Tempest when you have me?”
