Viper Strike spell for Dungeons & Dragons

This new spell for Dungeons & Dragons turns your arm into a snake that can strike with deadly venom.


Viper Strike

1st level transmutation

Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Components: V, S
Duration: Instantaneous

Your arm transforms into a venomous serpent. Make a melee spell attack against a target within 5 feet. On a hit, the target takes 2d8 piercing damage and must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or take an additional 1d10 poison damage and become poisoned for 1 minute. A poisoned creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 piercing and 1d10 poison for each slot level above 1st.

At Master Level. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th-7th level, you can strike a target within 10 feet. Also, the damage increases by 1d8 piercing and 1d10 poison for each slot level above 1st.

At Epic Level. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 8th or 9th level, you can strike a target within 15 feet. Also, the damage increases by 1d8 piercing and 1d10 poison for each slot level above 1st.
