This magic staff for Dungeons and Dragons draws on the power of a fallen star to light the darkness and deal radiant damage to enemies and monsters.
Staff of the Star Stone
Staff, very rare (requires attunement by a Druid, Sorcerer, Warlock, or Wizard)
This staff can be wielded as a magic quarterstaff that grants a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it.
The staff has 10 charges. While holding it, you can use an action to expend 1 or more of its charges to activate one of the following effects.
Star Shine. You can expend 1 charge to cast the Light cantrip.
Star Beam. You can expend 3 charges to fire a beam from the star stone in a line that is 5 feet wide and 120 feet long. Each creature in that line must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking 28 (8d6) radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Star Burst. You can expend 3 charges to make the star stone emit a burst of divine energy. Each creature of your choice in a 10-foot radius must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking 28 (8d6) radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
The staff regains 1d6 + 4 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the star stone cracks and loses its magic.
