Introducing a new magic armor for Dungeons & Dragons. This leather armor grows spiky quills on command. Woe to any monster that tries to grapple your D&D character!
Perfect for druids or nature clerics who want to utilize a porcupine’s natural defense in their armor.
Quilled Armor
Armor (studded leather), rare
While wearing this armor, you gain a +1 bonus to AC. You can also use a bonus action to speak the armor’s command word and cause the armor to sprout spiky quills.
While the armor is quilled, any creature within 5 feet of you that hits you with a melee attack must succeed on a DC 15 dexterity save or take 1d4 piercing damage.
Additionally, any creature that attempts to grapple you takes 2d4 piercing damage. If the creature successfully grapples you, it takes an additional 2d4 piercing damage at the start of its turn for every turn that you are grappled. This damage also applies to any creature that you grapple.
The armor’s quills last 1 hour and can be activated 3 times per day.
Porcupines have sharp spiky quills called guard hairs that cover their bodies. These hairs are very strong, and porcupines use them to ward off predators. If a predator tries to grab a porcupine, the porcupine will try to push its body into the attacker. The porcupine then uses its quills to poke at the attacker until it lets go.
Your Dungeons and Dragons character can use the same defense with this magical armor.
