This new magic potion for Dungeons & Dragons lets your character exhale lightning like a blue dragon or behir. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw or take lightning damage.
Potion of Lightning Breath
Potion, uncommon
After drinking this potion, you can use a bonus action to exhale lightning at a target within 30 feet of you. The target must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d6 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The effect ends after you exhale the lightning three times or when 1 hour has passed.
This potion’s blue liquid shimmers and sparks inside its bottle. Lightning beetle carapace and behir blood are the potion’s primary ingredients.
Lightning breath is a powerful weapon that can be used to great effect against opponents vulnerable to lightning damage, such as a knight in full plate armor. When using lightning breath, the character or creature unleashes a bolt of electricity that deals lightning damage to its target.
Unlike lightning spells or a blue dragon’s breath, the lightning breath you gain from this potion can only target one creature, rather than a line of enemies. However, it lets you use the breath as a bonus action up to three times.
When using lightning breath, it’s important to keep in mind that some monsters may have abilities or resistances that can nullify or reduce the effectiveness of lightning breath attacks. As such, it’s important to carefully evaluate the situation and choose the appropriate tactics to maximize your chances of success.
