Dragon Cat – Dungeons and Dragons monster

Dragon Cat

Every cat lover knows that their favorite feline is part dragon. This new monster for Dungeons & Dragons is inspired by my cat Tomas, a ginger tabby who would be an excellent wizard’s familiar.

Dragon Cats look like typical housecats but have draconic wings and can cough up flaming hairballs.

Actions

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft, 1 target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) piercing damage.

Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 2) slashing damage.

Fiery Hairball (Recharge 5–6). The dragon cat coughs up fire in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw, taking 9 (3d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Background

Dragon cats were created by a wizard who loved cats and dragons alike. The intelligent, friendly hybrids are highly prized as familiars for wizards. Although they are a similar size and temperament of a house cat, they can live for hundreds of years.
