Bed of Rest – new DnD magic item

Bed of Rest new magic item for Dungeons and Dragons

This new magic item for Dungeons & Dragons is a comfortable bed that shrinks to fit in a pocket and grants the benefits of a long rest after only 1 hour of sleep.

Bed of Rest

Wondrous Item, rare (requires attunement)

Weight: ½ lb. to 250 lbs.

This ordinary looking but comfortable bed is 2 inches by 4 inches and weighs less than a pound in its reduced state. When enlarged, it is 4 ft. wide, 8 ft. long, 2 ft. tall and weighs 250 pounds.

Enlarge / Reduce. You can use a bonus action to enlarge the bed to full size in a space within 10 feet of you. Each creature in the area where the bed appears must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking 1d6 bludgeoning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. In either case, the creature is pushed to an unoccupied space next to the bed. You can use a bonus action to reduce the bed again.

Restful Sleep. Once per day, you can sleep in the bed for an invigorating rest. If you remain  unconscious for at least 1 hour, you gain the benefit of a long rest. You must be attuned to the bed to gain this benefit.

Insomniac

A Dungeons & Dragons adventure for Levels 5 – 9

Deep in the forest, an enchanted tower is covered with vines and vegetation. Inside, there are multiple beds on each level of the tower. No one has slept on any of the beds. A Wraith wanders the tower. It is the spirit of a human princess who was cursed with magical insomnia.

The princess’s spirit can be freed if she ever finds rest. A Sleep spell cast at 3rd level or a Greater Restoration spell puts the spirit to sleep and lift the curse. She can also be freed if she lies on the Bed of Rest. The magic item is in its reduced state, hidden in a dollhouse on the tower’s top level.

If you free or destroy the wraith, you find 500 gp hidden in the forest tower along with the Bed of Rest.
