This new magic polearm for Dungeons & Dragons emits a pulse of gravity that slows your opponent.
Glaive of Gravity
Weapon (glaive), very rare (requires attunement)
You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Gravity Pulse. The glaive has 1d4 + 1 charges. When you hit a creature with the glaive, you can expend a charge to create a gravity pulse. The creature must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes an additional 2d8 force damage, and its speed is halved until the end of its next turn. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and suffers no reduction to its speed. The glaive regains 1d4 charges at dawn.
Proficiency with a glaive allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
A glaive is a type of polearm weapon consisting of a single-edged blade on the end of a long pole. It is used in Dungeons & Dragons primarily as a weapon for polearm masters. The blade is usually around 2-3 feet long and tapered to a point, allowing for thrusting and slicing attacks. The long pole provides reach and leverage, allowing the wielder to strike at opponents from a safe distance.
In addition, the Gravity Pulse feature of this magic weapon delivers extra force damage and can slow down your enemy as gravity pulls them down.

What’s the DC calculation for the Constitution save?
I would say DC 17 because it’s a very rare item. I’ll add that to the description.
I feel as though the weapon should be reduced to rare rarity because very rare items, such as say a frost brand, also give something else like its ability to put out non-magical flames and resistance to cold and fire damage. If you want to keep it at very-rare then I suggest adding something like a levitation ability for a charge or resistance to force damage.
Great suggestions. Thanks!
I am new to DnD and I’m curious as to how I would get attuned to be able to use the Glaive?
Thx!
Here’s how attunement works in D&D 5th edition. “Attuning to an item requires a creature to spend a short rest focused on only that item while being in physical contact with it.”
