Typhoon Triblade epic magic item for Dungeons and Dragons

This new magic item for Dungeons & Dragons is a three-bladed ranged weapon that has storm powers and can return to your hand after striking multiple targets.


Typhoon Triblade

Weapon (boomerang), rare [Tier 2]
(requires attunement)

Damage: 1d6+1 slashing

Weight: 1 lb.

Properties: Thrown (Range 60/120)

This three-bladed ranged weapon requires attunement before it can be used safely. Anyone who is not attuned who attempts to catch the Typhoon Triblade must succeed a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take 1d6+1 slashing slashing damage.

Return. When you make a ranged attack with the triblade, it flies back to your hand at the end of your turn even if the attack hits.

Wind Power. The triblade has 6 charges and regains 1d4 + 2 expended charges each day at dawn. You can use an action to expend 2 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it, using spell save DC 15: gust of wind (2 charges) or wind wall (3 charges).

Proficiency with a javelin allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with the triblade.

Very Rare [Tier 3] upgrade

When you achieve level 10 while attuned to the Typhoon Triblade, you have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. The range increases to 80/320.

Whirlwind Attack. Once on each of your turns when you make a ranged weapon attack with the triblade, you can make additional attacks with it against up to two different targets that are within 10 feet of the original target and within range.

Legendary [Tier 4] upgrade

When you achieve level 17 while attuned to the Typhoon Triblade, you have a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. The range increases to 150/600.

Legendary Whirlwind Attack. Once on each of your turns when you make a ranged weapon attack with the triblade, you can make additional attacks with it against up to four different targets that are within 10 feet of the original target and within range.

Typhoon Power. The triblade has 10 charges and regains 1d6 + 4 expended charges each day at dawn. You can use an action to expend 2 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it, using spell save DC 18: gust of wind (2 charges), wind wall (3 charges), call lightning (3 charges), or chain lightning (6 charges).
