Sword of Corrosion new magic weapon for Dungeons and Dragons

This new magic weapon for Dungeons & Dragons is a rusty metal blade that mimics the corrosive powers of a rust monster.

Sword of Corrosion

Weapon (longword), rare

Damage: 1d8+1 slashing

Weight: 3 lbs.

Properties: Versatile (1d10+1 slashing)

You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

Corrode Metal. As an action, you can corrode a nonmagical metal object you can see within 5 feet of you. If the object isn’t being worn or carried, you destroy a 1-foot cube of it. If the object is being worn or carried by a creature, you must make a melee attack against the creature. On a hit, the creature must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw to avoid the blade’s corrosive touch.

If the object touched is either nonmagical metal armor or a metal shield being worn or carried, it takes a permanent and cumulative -1 penalty to the AC it offers. Armor reduced to an AC of 10 or a shield that drops to a +0 bonus is destroyed. If the object touched is a held metal weapon, the weapon takes a permanent and cumulative -1 penalty to damage rolls. If its penalty drops to -5, the weapon is destroyed.

In addition, if a creature makes a melee attack against you with a nonmagical metal weapon and misses, it must make a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw to avoid corrosion of its weapon.

Proficiency with a longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

Rust in Peace

A short Dungeons & Dragons adventure for levels 1 – 5

A group of archeologists have uncovered an incredible find, an ancient metal titan that was buried by a volcanic eruption over a thousand years ago. But their discovery is threatened by the sudden arrival of a Xorn and several Rust Monsters.

You are hired to protect the archeological site from the metal-devouring creatures. One of the archeologists is an elven Mage named Deklara Ryealt who summoned the monsters to create a distraction while she steals the heart of the titan. The heart is a large ruby that once powered the metal behemoth but has lost its magic energy.

Deklara will not tell why she wants the gem, aside from its obvious monetary value. The other archeologists are only interested in preserving history. If you help them defend the ancient metal titan from Deklara and the metal-devouring monsters, they award each member of your party 250 gp. You also find a Sword of Corrosion embedded in the xorn.
