This new magic item for Dungeons & Dragons is a crystal carved with runes. There are five different crystals with different spell effects. Which one do you want?
Rune Crystal
Wondrous Item, uncommon
Weight: ½ lb.
Rune Crystals are used by dwarves, gnomes, and giants to store spells for later use. You can use an action to throw a rune crystal up to 30 feet. When the crystal lands, it breaks and activates a spell centered on the crystal.

The Runes Carver
A short Dungeons & Dragons adventure for levels 1-5
Deep beneath a mountain in the north, a dwarf named Duncan Leadhammer lives a humble existence, carving runes on crystals and enchanting them with magic. He trades his Rune Crystals with Deep Gnomes and other good denizens of the under-realms and occasionally with adventurers from the surface world.
Duncan needs your help collecting crystals. The cavern that he used to mine has been taken over by Duergar who are removing every crystal they can find. The gray dwarves serve a Red Dragon Wyrmling that is trying to build its horde of treasure. The wyrmling oversees the mining operation with a greedy eye, devouring captive Goblin workers if they move too slowly.
The enslaved goblins will turn against their duergar masters if freed, or you can attempt to steal crystals without being noticed. Each turn, you can use your action and bonus action to gather crystals. Roll on the Rune Crystal table above to determine which type of crystal you find and roll 1d4 to determine how many crystals you find.
For every 4 crystals that you find, Duncan will give you 1 Rune Crystal. If you drive the duergar and red dragon wyrmling away or destroy them, Duncan will give you double the amount of Rune Crystals.
