Shield of Reflection – new DnD magic item

Shield of Reflection new magic item for Dungeons and Dragons

This new magic item for Dungeons & Dragons is a shield with a mirrored surface that lets you safely view creatures with a dangerous gaze and can reflect spells back at the caster.

Shield of Reflection

Armor (shield), very rare (requires attunement)

Weight: 6 lbs

This polished, mirrored shield grants the wielder the following benefits:

  • While holding this shield, you have a +1 bonus to AC. This bonus is in addition to the shield’s normal bonus to AC.
  • While wielding this shield, you can use its mirrored surface to safely view Basilisks, Medusas, and other creatures that have a dangerous gaze.
  • While wielding this shield, you have resistance to radiant damage.

Spell Reflection. Once per long rest, you can use a reaction to reflect a spell that targets only you. The spell’s caster must make a Dexterity saving throw with a DC equal to 10 + your Dexterity modifier. On a failed save, the spell is reflected back at the caster as if you had cast it. On a successful save, the spell affects you as normal.

The shield is made from metal and is carried in one hand. Wielding a shield increases your Armor Class by 2. You can benefit from only one shield at a time.

The Stone Garden

A short Dungeons & Dragons adventure for levels 10-14

There is a remote part of the forest where few venture, and those that do seldom return. Every animal, every bush, every tree has been turned to stone. Legends say that the Stone Garden is home to a powerful sorceress who was banished from a far away kingdom.

Iskari Firal is an Archmage and also a Medusa. Add the medusa’s Petrifying Gaze ability to the archmage stats. Iskari has been using her natural abilities and powerful magic to petrify the forest around her lair. You discover that she is planning a ritual that will turn everything within a ten mile radius into stone.

To stop the evil archmage, you will have to penetrate her magic defenses and get past her Stone Golem guardian. The Stone Garden contains hundreds of petrified creatures and adventurers, including one with a Longsword +1 and a Shield of Reflection. You can use these magic items to help defeat Iskari and stop her deadly ritual.
