“Bloodwood Cannibals” coming to DVD

This fall, my horror movie “Bloodwood” will be widely distributed by Eagle One Media as “Bloodwood Cannibals”. The new title should help horror fans find the movie and know what it’s about just by looking at the cover. Check out the new artwork and look for the new DVD soon. Special features will include audio commentary and the complete “Hunting the Unknown” web series.

Here’s the second piece of digital art I’ve created for “Dream Raiders”, the first being the spiral image that may be used as a symbol for Project Nautilus.

In this piece, Lily enters the dark forest that is one of her many dream realms…

Project Nautilus Candidate Profile: Cartwright, Lily

Lily Cartwright (Subject) is the most powerful dreamer the Project has found at the time of this profile. However, her potential as Project operative requires further assessment. Subject suffers from mental instability as a result of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Subject was 12 years old when she was kidnapped by Randolph Murch on Feb. 14th, 2004. For nearly six years, Subject was caged in Murch’s basement where she suffered unspeakable mental and physical torture. Subject reports that she took refuge in her dreams and learned to control her dream world. Subject also reports that she escaped the basement after killing Murch in a dream. The Baltimore Coroner’s autopsy revealed that Murch suffered a fatal coronary failure at the approximate time that Subject claims to have made the lethal transference.

Subsequent studies have confirmed that Subject is indeed capable of Targeted Lethal Transference (TLT). Project handlers recommend extreme caution when dealing with Subject, whose moods and behavior are unpredictable. Though normally quiet and withdrawn, Subject may prove to be a danger to herself and everyone around her. Proceeding to Level 2 testing.

San Francisco Bloodwood screening

This past Tuesday’s screening at the Brava Theater in San Francisco was a great time. The audience gathered in the beautiful lobby, where concessions and DVDs were also on sale. L. Jeffrey Moore started the show by introducing the shorts, then asked me to join him on stage.

I almost took a spill on the top step but recovered and gave a quick intro to Bloodwood before running back to the projector to start the movies. We watched trailers to upcoming projects from Red Cape Cinema and a very cool, surreal short by director Nara Denning. The final short was episode 1 of “The Experiment” by L. Jeffrey Moore.

After a retro “feature presentation” clip, Bloodwood played, and we got screams and laughs in all the right places. After the movie, I answered a few questions then went back to the lobby to sell a few DVDS and meet some cool people.

The Bloodwood cast and crew then set out in search of a bar in which to celebrate. The rest is kind of hazy, but I do know that Kate Corey, Steve Everson, Cori Jenab, Chris Madrigal, Nathan Carter, Ramiro Puente, and several others were there.

The March 28th premiere of Bloodwood was a huge success! A line of eager horror fans was wrapped around the block, but everyone made it in and had a great time (including the bat who swooped around for a while before clinging to the top of the screen). Thank you to everyone who made the day so special: the Bloodwood cast & crew, our audience & guests, and Tomahawk Productions for putting on a crazy after-party at Lost on Main. Enjoy the photos!

Here’s another fun video we did to promote Bloodwood. Former KHSL reporter Cindy Nixon (now in Washington D.C.) played fictional reporter “Trina Dixon” in the movie, and was kind enough to also do this video for the web. Special thanks to Braidon Thorn, returning as the evil feral Snaggletooth, and Steve Everson, playing a cameraman named Steve. Actress Katie Uhlmann also provided the voice-over screams.
